Overview | Georgia

From the very beginning let’s get one thing straight: Georgia is amazing! And if you also have a motorcycle to ride through it far and wide, you can consider yourself a winner! It’s got all sorts of roads to offer, a lot of off-road (who has ever heard of Ushguli or Omalo knows what I’m talking about), breathtaking landscapes and good heartwarming people.

And, to make myself even clearer, I do not mean Georgia, the American state, but Georgia, the country situated in Oriental Europe, bordered by Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaidjan: https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia.

We set ourselves for an unforgettable motorcycle trip… and it was so much more than that! It was a journey born out of the passion of riding motorcycles, discovering new places, knowing new people, testing our limits (even overpassing them), increasing our physical and mental endurance, sharing sensations, getting to know one another and also knowing ourselves… far away from our comfortable daily lives and routines.

Our trip lasted for 3 weeks: Romania – Bulgaria – Turkey – Georgia and back. We were 3 motorcycles (1 VStrom 1000, 1 VStrom 650 and 1 BMW), 6 people – 3 couples and some luggage… about 350 kg all in all on each motorbike. We included tents and sleeping bags, which we ended up taking about for 6000 km to only use on the very last day, upon our return, in Vama Veche.

The road to Georgia was loooong but we left home with a lot of enthusiasm and charged batteries. We left Bucharest pretty late, at 4:00 P.M. and we arrived in Turkey at 1:00 A.M. almost frozen.

Caucasus offroad adventure

181 kilometers

The toughest offroad ride we have ever experienced. 100-ish kilometers between Usghuli and Lentehki, river crossings, rocky paths, snowy slopes. Two-up on road tires. Fun guaranteed!

Following an unexpected problem with one of the motorcycles, we had the fortune to encounter some of the most amazing people we have ever met.

Mongolian - like plains and hills. One could ride in any direction, explore and reach any hill in the distance. No roads obviously, a magnificent experience. This experience sparked the 2017 Mongolia trip ride :)

Follow us on the road back to Romania. Riding across proper tarmac once again 111 km/s two-up on a 650 cmc motorbike is easy-breezy in Turkey.
